43	43	certain new vehicles have seat belts; providing an
44	44	effective date; and declaring an emergency .

50	50	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
51	51	SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 9 -103, is
52	52	amended to read as follows:
53	53	Section 9-103. The board of education of any scho ol district
54	54	authorized to furnish transportation to school children may purchase
55	55	and maintain suitable vehicles for such use and/or may contract with
56	56	responsible individuals or a nother school district to furnish all or
57	57	part of said transportation. All such contractors, however, shall
58	58	be subject to statutory provisions relating to the transportation of
59	59	school children. Every vehicle with a capacity of ten passengers or
60	60	more used in transporting school children shall have painted in
61	61	letters not less than ei ght (8) inches in height on the front
62	62	thereof the words, "SCHOOL BUS," and on the rear thereof in letters

89	89	of the same size, "SCHOOL BUS." Every vehicle with a capacity of
90	90	ten (10) passengers or more used in transporting school children
91	91	purchased, or contracted for use , on or after the effective date of
92	92	this act, shall have seat belts for every passenger.
93	93	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2025.
94	94	SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
95	95	of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
96	96	declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
97	97	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
