40	40	An Act relating to prisons and reformatories;
41	41	granting elected state officials the right to access
42	42	facilities operated by the Departmen t of Corrections
43	43	for purposes of inspection and evaluation; providing
44	44	for announced and unannounced visits; authorizing
45	45	access to inmates; directing the Department to
46	46	implement security protocols to manage visits;
47	47	providing for codification; and providing an
48	48	effective date.

54	54	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKL AHOMA:
55	55	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
56	56	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 509.7 of Title 57, unless there
57	57	is created a duplication in numbering, r eads as follows:
58	58	A. Beginning November 1, 2025, elected state officials shall
59	59	have the right to access all facilities operated by the Department
60	60	of Corrections for purposes of inspection and evaluation of said
61	61	facilities and to ensure compliance with poli cies and procedures
62	62	promulgated by the Department. An inspection and evaluati on may be
63	63	announced or unannounced with higher risk facilities receiving more
64	64	frequent inspections and evaluations.

91	91	B. The Department shall further allow elected state officials
92	92	access to inmates incarcerated at said facilities upon request by
93	93	elected state officials.
94	94	C. The Department shall implement the necessary security
95	95	protocols to manage said visits without compromising the safety and
96	96	security of the facility, its inmates, correctional officers, and
97	97	employees of the Department.
98	98	SECTION 1. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
