4040 An Act relating to prisons and reformatories;
4141 granting elected state officials the right to access
4242 facilities operated by the Departmen t of Corrections
4343 for purposes of inspection and evaluation; providing
4444 for announced and unannounced visits; authorizing
4545 access to inmates; directing the Department to
4646 implement security protocols to manage visits;
4747 providing for codification; and providing an
4848 effective date.

5454 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKL AHOMA:
5555 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
5656 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 509.7 of Title 57, unless there
5757 is created a duplication in numbering, r eads as follows:
5858 A. Beginning November 1, 2025, elected state officials shall
5959 have the right to access all facilities operated by the Department
6060 of Corrections for purposes of inspection and evaluation of said
6161 facilities and to ensure compliance with poli cies and procedures
6262 promulgated by the Department. An inspection and evaluati on may be
6363 announced or unannounced with higher risk facilities receiving more
6464 frequent inspections and evaluations.

9191 B. The Department shall further allow elected state officials
9292 access to inmates incarcerated at said facilities upon request by
9393 elected state officials.
9494 C. The Department shall implement the necessary security
9595 protocols to manage said visits without compromising the safety and
9696 security of the facility, its inmates, correctional officers, and
9797 employees of the Department.
9898 SECTION 1. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
