54	54	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
55	55	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
56	56	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 4101 of Title 69, unless there
57	57	is created a duplication in numberi ng, reads as follows:
58	58	The Oklahoma Department of Transportation shall erect signage
59	59	designating the following roads as the True Grit Trail:
60	60	Beginning at the start , US Highway 64 at the Oklahoma state line
61	61	with Arkansas to US Highway 59 . From US Highway 59 to US Highway
62	62	271. From US Highway 271 to the town of Spiro, Oklahoma. From
63	63	Spiro Oklahoma back to US 5 9. From US Highway 59 to Oklahoma
64	64	Highway 31. From Oklahoma Highway 31 to US Highway 270. From US

102	102	Tourism and Recreation Department to direct visitors to sites of
103	103	significant interest along the True Grit Trai l, including:

105	105	2. The Town of Spiro;
106	106	3. The Town of Bokoshe;
107	107	4. The Town of McCurtain;
108	108	5. The Town of Kinta;
109	109	6. The Town of Quinton;
110	110	7. The City of Krebs;
111	111	8. The City of McAlester;
112	112	9. The City of Hartshorne;
113	113	10. The City of Wilburton;
114	114	11. Robbers Cave State Park;

145	145	C. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation shall collaborate
146	146	with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department to maintai n
147	147	online resources for the True Grit Trail , including but not limited
148	148	to:
149	149	1. A map of the True Grit Trail;
150	150	2. Information about each of the sites of significant interest
151	151	identified in this section; and
152	152	3. Historical context regarding the True Grit Trail .
153	153	D. The cost associated with signage required by this act may be
154	154	provided from private sources and may include the costs of the
155	155	initial erection of signs as well as the cost of potential
156	156	replacement or reconstruction of signs. Upon receiving adequate
157	157	funding, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation shall cause
158	158	suitable permanent markers to be placed as required by this act.
159	159	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
