5454 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5555 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
5656 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 4101 of Title 69, unless there
5757 is created a duplication in numberi ng, reads as follows:
5858 The Oklahoma Department of Transportation shall erect signage
5959 designating the following roads as the True Grit Trail:
6060 Beginning at the start , US Highway 64 at the Oklahoma state line
6161 with Arkansas to US Highway 59 . From US Highway 59 to US Highway
6262 271. From US Highway 271 to the town of Spiro, Oklahoma. From
6363 Spiro Oklahoma back to US 5 9. From US Highway 59 to Oklahoma

108108 5. The Town of Kinta;
109109 6. The Town of Quinton;

112112 9. The City of Hartshorne;

145145 C. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation shall collaborate
146146 with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department to maintai n
147147 online resources for the True Grit Trail , including but not limited
148148 to:
149149 1. A map of the True Grit Trail;
150150 2. Information about each of the sites of significant interest
151151 identified in this section; and
152152 3. Historical context regarding the True Grit Trail .
153153 D. The cost associated with signage required by this act may be
154154 provided from private sources and may include the costs of the
155155 initial erection of signs as well as the cost of potential
156156 replacement or reconstruction of signs. Upon receiving adequate
157157 funding, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation shall cause
158158 suitable permanent markers to be placed as required by this act.
159159 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
