5050 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5151 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 21 O.S. 2021, Section 1272, is
5252 amended to read as follows:
5353 Section 1272.
5454 UNLAWFUL CARRY
5555 A. Notwithstanding any other provisi on of law, it shall be
5656 unlawful for any person to carry upon or about his or her person, or
5757 in a purse or other container belonging to the person, any pistol,
5858 revolver, shotgun or rifle whether loaded or unloaded or any
5959 blackjack, loaded cane, hand chain, metal knuckles, or any other
6060 offensive weapon, whether such weapon be concealed or unconcealed,
6161 except this section shall not prohibit:

8888 1. The proper use of guns and knives for self-defense, hunting,
8989 fishing, educational or recreational purposes;
9090 2. The carrying or use of weapons in a manner otherwise
9191 permitted by statute or authorized by the Oklahoma Self -Defense Act;
9292 3. The carrying, possession and use of any weapon by a peac e
9393 officer or other person authorized by law to carry a weapon in the
9494 performance of official duties and in compliance with the rules of
9595 the employing agency;
9696 4. The carrying or use of weapons in a courthouse by a district
9797 judge, associate district judge o r special district judge within
9898 this state, who is in possession of a valid ha ndgun license issued
9999 pursuant to the provisions of the Oklahoma Self -Defense Act and
100100 whose name appears on a list maintained by the Administrative
101101 Director of the Courts;
102102 5. The carrying and use of firearms and other weapons provided
103103 in this subsection when used for the purpose of living history
104104 reenactment. For purposes of this paragraph, "living history
105105 reenactment" means depiction of historical characters, scenes,
106106 historical life or events for entertainment, education, or
107107 historical documentation throu gh the wearing or use of period,
108108 historical, antique or vintage clothing, accessories, firearms,
109109 weapons, and other implements of the historical period; or
110110 6. The transporting b y vehicle on a public roadway or the
111111 carrying of a firearm, concealed or unconcealed, loaded or unloaded,

138138 by a person who is twenty -one (21) years of age or older or by a
139139 person who is eighteen (18) years of age but not yet twenty -one (21)
140140 years of age and the person is a member or veteran of the United
141141 States Armed Forces, Reserves or National Guard or was discharged
142142 under honorable conditions from the United States Armed Forces,
143143 Reserves or National Guard, and the person is otherwise not
144144 disqualified from the possession or purchase of a firearm under
145145 state or federal law and is not carrying the firearm in furtherance
146146 of a crime; or
147147 7. The transporting by vehicle on a public roadway a loaded
148148 rifle by a person who has been issued a license to carry a concea led
149149 or unconcealed handgun as provided by the provisions of the Oklahoma
150150 Self-Defense Act.
151151 Except as provided in subsection B of Section 1283 of this
152152 title, a person who has been convicted of any one of the following
153153 offenses in this state or a violation o f the equivalent law of
154154 another state:
155155 a. assault and battery pursuant to the provisions of
156156 Section 644 of this title which caused serious
157157 physical injury to the victim,
158158 b. aggravated assault and battery pursuant to the
159159 provisions of Section 646 of this ti tle,
160160 c. assault and battery that qualifies as domestic abuse
161161 as defined in Section 644 of this title,

188188 d. stalking pursuant to the provisions of Section 1173 of
189189 this title,
190190 e. a violation of an order issued under the Protection
191191 from Domestic Abuse Act or a domestic abuse protection
192192 order issued by another state, or
193193 f. a violation relating to illegal drug use or possession
194194 under the provisions of the Uniform Controlled
195195 Dangerous Substances Act,
196196 shall be prohibited from carrying a firearm under the provisions of
197197 this paragraph. Any person who carries a firearm in the manner
198198 provided for in this paragraph shall be prohibited from carrying the
199199 firearm into any of the places prohibited in subsection A of Section
200200 1277 of this title or any other place currently pro hibited by law.
201201 Nothing in this section shall modify or otherwise change where a
202202 person may legally carry a firearm.
203203 B. Any person convicted of violating the foregoing provision
204204 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable as provided in Section
205205 1276 of this title.
206206 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective Novembe r 1, 2025.
