4040 An Act relating to canine police dogs; requiring

4444 circumstances; providing what the system must do when
4545 activated; providing for codification; and providing
4646 an effective date.

5252 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5353 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
5454 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 34-109 of Title 11, unless there
5555 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
5656 A. As used in this section, "law enforcement agency " shall mean
5757 the police department of any municipality.
5858 B. 1. A law enforcement agency shall equip each vehicle used
5959 in a canine law enforcement program with a heat alarm system that is
6060 activated when the vehicle stops running or the temperature in the
6161 vehicle's interior exceeds eighty -five (85) degrees Fahrenheit.
6262 2. The system, when activated, must:

9191 c. notify the canine law enforcement officer of the

9393 SECTION 2. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
9494 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 566 of Title 19, unless there is
9595 created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
9696 A. As used in this section , "law enforcement agency " shall mean
9797 the police department of any county sheriff's department.
9898 B. 1. A law enforcement agency shall equip each vehicle used
9999 in a canine law enforcement program with a heat alarm system that is
100100 activated when the vehicle stops running or the temperature in the
101101 vehicle's interior exceeds eighty -five degrees (85) Fahrenheit.
102102 2. The system, when activated, must:
103103 a. activate an audible alarm;
104104 b. automatically lower the vehicle 's rear windows; and
105105 c. notify the canine law enforcement officer of the
106106 dangerous situation.
107107 SECTION 3. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
108108 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 9301 of Title 74, unless there
109109 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
110110 A. As used in this section , "law enforcement agency" shall mean
111111 any police department with statewide jurisdiction as well as any
112112 university or college campus police.
