53 | 50 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: |

54 | 51 | | SECTION 1. AMENDATORY Section 3, Chapter 269, O.S.L. |
---|
55 | 52 | | 2024 (59 O.S. Supp. 2024, Section 1688.1), is amended to read as |
---|

57 | 54 | | Section 1688.1. A. 1. Effective January 1, 2026, no |
---|
58 | 55 | | contractor or journeyman license shall be renewed unless the |
---|
59 | 56 | | licensee has completed twelve (12) hours of continuing edu cation |
---|
60 | 57 | | every three (3) years or thirty -six (36) months preceding the |
---|
61 | 58 | | expiration date of the license or registration certificat e license |
---|
62 | 59 | | renewal. If a license expires before the licensee completes the |
---|
63 | 60 | | continuing education requirement, any continuing educat ion that is |
---|
64 | 61 | | completed while the license is expired will be applied to the |
---|
93 | 89 | | preceding the date the license expired. Once the continuing |
---|
94 | 90 | | education requirement for the expired license is met, alo ng with any |
---|
95 | 91 | | other requirements, the expired license may be renewed. Twelve (12) |
---|
96 | 92 | | hours of continuing education will have to be completed in order to |
---|
97 | 93 | | meet the continuing education requirement for the subsequent thirty - |
---|
98 | 94 | | six-month period. The continuing educa tion course and instructor |
---|
99 | 95 | | shall be approved in advance by the Committee of Electrical |
---|
100 | 96 | | Examiners. Exceptions to advance approval, or post -course approval, |
---|
101 | 97 | | may be allowed by the Committee, or its designee, for substitute |
---|
102 | 98 | | instructors in emergency situations when written notice of the |
---|
103 | 99 | | emergency is provided to the Committee, or its designee, within |
---|
104 | 100 | | seven (7) days of the course. The location of continuing education |
---|
105 | 101 | | courses shall be at the discretion of the course provider and may be |
---|
106 | 102 | | scheduled during the workda y at the discretion of the course |
---|
107 | 103 | | provider. The continuing education material shall cover six (6) |
---|
108 | 104 | | hours of codes and revisions adopted by the Oklahoma Uniform |
---|
109 | 105 | | Building Code Commission (OUBCC). The remaining six (6) hours may |
---|
110 | 106 | | include the study of: electr ical circuit theory and calculations, |
---|
111 | 107 | | wiring methods, grounding and bonding, transformer and motor theory, |
---|
112 | 108 | | electrical circuits and devices, control systems, alternative energy |
---|
113 | 109 | | systems including energy storage, safety related to the electrical |
---|
114 | 110 | | industry as defined by NFPA 70E, manufacturers ' installation of |
---|
115 | 111 | | equipment or parts, the Electrical License Act, the trade |
---|
144 | 139 | | Construction Industries Board, and other trade subject matters |
---|
145 | 140 | | approved by the Committee. |
---|
146 | 141 | | 2. Effective January 1, 2026, no apprentice shall be permitted |
---|
147 | 142 | | to reregister unless the apprentice registrant has com pleted three |
---|
148 | 143 | | (3) hours of continuing education every year preceding the |
---|
149 | 144 | | expiration date of the registration certificate re-registration. If |
---|
150 | 145 | | a registration expires before the registrant completes the |
---|
151 | 146 | | continuing education requirement, any continuing education that is |
---|
152 | 147 | | completed while the registration is expired will be applied to the |
---|
153 | 148 | | continuing education requirement for the year preced ing the date the |

154 | 149 | | registration expired. Once the continuing education requirement for |

155 | 150 | | the expired registration is met, along w ith any other requirements, |

201 | 195 | | Notwithstanding the provisions of this subsection, if an apprentice |
---|
202 | 196 | | is a student apprentice or is enrolled and attending an approved |
---|
203 | 197 | | course, the continuing education shall not be required. |
---|
204 | 198 | | B. The Construction Industries Board shall amend its rules, |
---|
205 | 199 | | wherever applicable, to conform to the provisions of the Electrical |
---|
206 | 200 | | License Act. |
---|
207 | 201 | | SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025. |
