49	46		the historic and cultural importance of U.S. Route

55	52		WHEREAS, U.S. Route 66, also known as the “Mother Road” , was
56	53		established in 1926 and served as a vital artery of American
57	54		transportation, running from Chicago, Illinois , to Santa Monica,
58	55		California, with over 400 miles tr aversing the State of Oklahoma;
59	56		and
60	57		WHEREAS, Route 66 played a pivotal role in the migration west
61	58		during the Dust Bowl era, providing a path to opportunity and
62	59		survival for countless Oklahomans; and
63	60		WHEREAS, the communities along Route 66 in Oklahoma have long
64	61		served as vibrant centers of commerce, culture, and hospitality,
	62	+	offering a unique blend of small -town charm, urban energy, and
	63	+	scenic beauty; and

98	94		WHEREAS, Oklahoma’s rich tribal heritage is deeply woven into
99	95		the Route 66 experience, with tribal nations preserving and sharing
100	96		cultural traditions, stories, art, and enterprises along the
101	97		historic highway; and
102	98		WHEREAS, Route 66 has become a symbol of Oklahoma’s diverse
103	99		identity, celebrating our state’s legacy of resilience, creativity,
104	100		and community spirit .
105	101		NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
106	102		OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE, THE SENATE
107	103		CONCURRING THEREIN:
108	104		THAT the Oklahoma Legislat ure does hereby commemorate April 11,
109	105		2025, as Route 66 Day, honoring its historical significance,
110	106		cultural richness, and ongoing impact on the State of Oklahoma .
111	107		BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be
112	108		distributed to the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and
113	109		the Oklahoma Historical Society for appropriate observance and
114	110		celebration.
