5552 WHEREAS, U.S. Route 66, also known as the “Mother Road” , was
5653 established in 1926 and served as a vital artery of American
5754 transportation, running from Chicago, Illinois , to Santa Monica,
5855 California, with over 400 miles tr aversing the State of Oklahoma;

6057 WHEREAS, Route 66 played a pivotal role in the migration west
6158 during the Dust Bowl era, providing a path to opportunity and
6259 survival for countless Oklahomans; and
6360 WHEREAS, the communities along Route 66 in Oklahoma have long
6461 served as vibrant centers of commerce, culture, and hospitality,

10298 WHEREAS, Route 66 has become a symbol of Oklahoma’s diverse
10399 identity, celebrating our state’s legacy of resilience, creativity,

105101 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
106102 OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE, THE SENATE

108104 THAT the Oklahoma Legislat ure does hereby commemorate April 11,
109105 2025, as Route 66 Day, honoring its historical significance,
110106 cultural richness, and ongoing impact on the State of Oklahoma .
111107 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be
112108 distributed to the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and
