5656 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE H OUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE OF THE
5757 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
5858 SECTION 1. The Secretary of State shall refer to the peop le for
5959 their approval or rejection, as and in the manner provided by law,
6060 the following proposed amendment to the Constitution of the State of
6161 Oklahoma by adding a new Section 8G to Article X thereof, to read as

6363 Notwithstanding any other provision s of Article X to the
6464 contrary, if the consumer price index (CPI) exceeds two percent
6565 (2%), the value of the taxpayer's ad valorem tax liability shall

9494 following the date as of which the CPI information becomes

9696 SECTION 2. The Ballot Title for the proposed Constitutional
9797 amendment as set forth in SECTION 1 of this resolution shall be in

101101 THE GIST OF THE PROPOSITION IS AS FOLLOWS:
102102 This measure creates a new section in Article 10 of the Oklahoma
103103 Constitution. This measure would allow for the value of the
104104 taxpayer's tax liability, for the purposes of collecting ad
105105 valorem taxes, to remain unchanged if inflation rate exceeds the
106106 consumer price index 's two percent (2%) targeted goal. The
107107 value of a taxpayer's liability would remain frozen and
108108 unchanged from the previ ous tax year. This freeze in the value
109109 of liability would go into effect during the first assessment
110110 year after the consumer price index information becomes
111111 available.

141141 SECTION 3. The Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives,
