19	50		WHEREAS, Bob Wills, born in 1905, began playing fiddle in his
20	51		youth before moving with his band, t he Texas Playboys, to Oklahoma
21	52		in 1934 to pursue business and creative opportunities ; and

23	53		WHEREAS, Bob Wills became known as the King of Western Swing as
24	54		he helped originate and popularize a unique genre of music rooted in
25	55		folk, jazz, and blues that would lead to the development of rock and
26	56		roll and modern country music; and

28	57		WHEREAS, Bob Wills entertained millions of people during his
29	58		heyday — performing twice weekly at what would become historic
30	59		Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, playing live daily radio broadcasts ,
31	60		touring across the country, and appearing in more than a dozen

40	93		artifacts collection to the Oklahoma Historical Society to be
41	94		featured for future generations across from Cain 's Ballroom at the
42	95		forthcoming Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture; and

44	96		WHEREAS, the Oklahoma Arts Council , the Oklahoma Film and Music
45	97		Office, and the Oklahoma Historical Society have partnered to revive

47	99		Oklahoma's most significant figures in t he history of popular music

50	101		NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
51	102		OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

53	103		THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives recognizes March 1 0,
54	104		2025, as Bob Wills Day at the Capitol.

56	105		THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives celebrates the life
57	106		and legacy of Oklahoma 's son, Bob Wills.

59	107		THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives thanks the Oklahoma
60	108		Arts Council, the Oklahoma Film and Music Offic e, and the Oklahoma
61	109		Historical Society for their work to honor Bob Wills and revive this
