53	53	WHEREAS, the Academy of American Poets established the month of
54	54	April as National Poetry Month in 1996; and
55	55	WHEREAS, National Poetry Month seeks to highlight the
56	56	extraordinary legacy and ongoing achievement of American poets,
57	57	introduce Americans to the pleasures and benefits of reading poetry,
58	58	bring poets and poetry to the public in immediate and innovative
59	59	ways, and make poetry an important part of our children 's education;

61	61	WHEREAS, National Poetry Month, under the leadership and
62	62	direction of the Academy of American Poets, is now the largest
63	63	literary celebration in the world; and

91	91	WHEREAS, poetry enhances and enriches the lives of all
92	92	Americans; and
93	93	WHEREAS, poetry, as an essential part of the arts and
94	94	humanities, affects every aspect of life in America today, including
95	95	education, the economy, and community pride and development; and
96	96	WHEREAS, poetry has produced some of the nation 's leading
97	97	creative artists and has inspired other artists in fiel ds such as
98	98	music, theatre, film, dance, and the visual arts.
99	99	NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
100	100	OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
101	101	THAT April 1 through April 30, 202 5, is hereby proclaimed to be
102	102	National Poetry Month in Oklahoma.
103	103	THAT public officials, educators, librarians, and all the people
104	104	of Oklahoma are encouraged to observe this month, to celebrate the
105	105	cultural riches our state has to offer and to recognize the
106	106	important role of poetry in creating and sus taining this great
107	107	nation with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs.
