11	49		8th, 2025, as Purebred Dog Day in the State of
12	50		Oklahoma; directing distribution of copies of the

18	57		WHEREAS, dedicated individuals in Oklahoma breed dogs to develop
19	58		unique predictable characteristics that enable dogs to excel in a
20	59		wide range of beneficial areas; and

22	60		WHEREAS, purebred dogs are living legacies of the cultures that
23	61		created them, and historically, these dogs worked alongside their
24	62		people and provided them companionship; and

26	63		WHEREAS, the service of these breeds contin ues as they work
27	64		alongside humans and provide inestimable companionship as guide
28	65		dogs, service dogs, conservation dogs, livestock guardians, search
29	66		and rescue dogs, earth dogs, police dogs, canine soldiers serving by

33	96		WHEREAS, purebred dogs have been of enormous help to medical
34	97		science, serving as models for many heritable human diseases,
35	98		playing a role in humanity 's understanding of the human and canine
36	99		genomes, and benefitting pharmaceutical research and development;

39	101		WHEREAS, purebred dogs are working dogs, serving as avalanche
40	102		dogs, trackers and trailers, herders, controllers of vermin, water
41	103		rescuers, carting and sled dogs, retrievers, protectors, hunters,
42	104		and bird dogs; and

44	105		WHEREAS, all dogs should be val ued whatever their ancestry, but
45	106		the purpose-bred dog and the predictability of its breed should be

48	108		WHEREAS, each breed is incredibly etched in the history of the
49	109		culture that created i t, just as surely as that culture 's music,
50	110		art, and language, making it abundantly fitting that we recognize

53	112		NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
54	113		OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

56	114		THAT the House of Representatives commend the benefits and
57	115		contributions of purebred dogs and recognize s April 8th, 2025, as
58	116		Purebred Dog Day in the State of Oklahoma .
