4848 WHEREAS, National Crime Victims' Rights Week is April 6 –12,
4949 2025; and
5050 WHEREAS, the theme this year for National Crime Victims' Rights
5151 Week is “Kinship, Connecting, and Healing” ; and
5252 WHEREAS, advocates believe all victims de serve equal rights
5353 throughout the judicial system; and
5454 WHEREAS, the rights of victims being pursued aim to provide
5555 coequal protections that are no more and no less than the rights
5656 afforded to those accused and convicted of crimes; and
5757 WHEREAS, consideration, awareness, and a voice for victims are
5858 central to the remembrance of victims during National Crime Victims'
5959 Rights Week; and
6060 WHEREAS, Oklahoma agrees that victims should always be treated
6161 with fairness and respect throughout the criminal justice process,

9191 WHEREAS, National Crime Victims' Rights Week serves to recognize
9292 the needs of crime victims and statewide advocacy organizations that
9393 are dedicated to guaranteeing victims' rights.
9494 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
9595 OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
9696 THAT the Oklahoma House of Re presentatives hereby proclaims the
9797 week of April 6, 2025 through April 12, 2025, as National Crime
9898 Victims' Rights Week and proclaims Thursday, April 9, 2025, as
9999 Victims’ Rights Day.
100100 THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives will join efforts
101101 with advocacy organizations throughout the State of Oklahoma to
102102 continue recognizing and supporting victims' rights.
103103 THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives reaffirms its
104104 commitment to help protect the rights of all Oklahoma crime victims,
105105 year-round.
106106 THAT copies of this resolution be distributed to the Victims
107107 Services Division of the Oklahoma District Attorneys Council.
