43	43	National Crime Victims' Rights Week; and provi ding

48	48	WHEREAS, National Crime Victims' Rights Week is April 6 –12,
49	49	2025; and
50	50	WHEREAS, the theme this year for National Crime Victims' Rights
51	51	Week is “Kinship, Connecting, and Healing” ; and
52	52	WHEREAS, advocates believe all victims de serve equal rights
53	53	throughout the judicial system; and
54	54	WHEREAS, the rights of victims being pursued aim to provide
55	55	coequal protections that are no more and no less than the rights
56	56	afforded to those accused and convicted of crimes; and
57	57	WHEREAS, consideration, awareness, and a voice for victims are
58	58	central to the remembrance of victims during National Crime Victims'
59	59	Rights Week; and
60	60	WHEREAS, Oklahoma agrees that victims should always be treated
61	61	with fairness and respect throughout the criminal justice process,

89	89	be heard at public proceedings regarding his or her case, and given
90	90	a voice throughout each process of the case; and
91	91	WHEREAS, National Crime Victims' Rights Week serves to recognize
92	92	the needs of crime victims and statewide advocacy organizations that
93	93	are dedicated to guaranteeing victims' rights.
94	94	NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
95	95	OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
96	96	THAT the Oklahoma House of Re presentatives hereby proclaims the
97	97	week of April 6, 2025 through April 12, 2025, as National Crime
98	98	Victims' Rights Week and proclaims Thursday, April 9, 2025, as
99	99	Victims’ Rights Day.
100	100	THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives will join efforts
101	101	with advocacy organizations throughout the State of Oklahoma to
102	102	continue recognizing and supporting victims' rights.
103	103	THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives reaffirms its
104	104	commitment to help protect the rights of all Oklahoma crime victims,
105	105	year-round.
106	106	THAT copies of this resolution be distributed to the Victims
107	107	Services Division of the Oklahoma District Attorneys Council.
