3965 An Act relating to the practices of speech -language

5379 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE S TATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5480 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1607, as
5581 amended by Section 1, Chapter 26, O.S.L. 2024 (59 O.S. Supp. 2024,
5682 Section 1607), is amended to read as follows:
5783 Section 1607. A. There is hereby re -created, to continue until
5884 July 1, 2027, in accordance with the provisions of the Oklahoma
5985 Sunset Law, the Board of Examiners for Speech -Language Pathology and
6086 Audiology whose duty it i s to administer the provisions of the
6187 Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology L icensing Act. The members
6288 of the Board shall be residents of this state and shall be appointed
6389 by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. The
64-Board shall be composed of five (5) members consisting of three

141+Board shall be composed of five (5) members consisting of three
92142 licensed speech-language pathologists or audiologists, provided that
93143 at least one of the three shall be a licensed speech -language
94144 pathologist and at least one, a licensed audiologist; one
95145 otolaryngologist who is certified by the American Board of
96146 Otolaryngology and one lay member.
97147 B. The members of the original Board shall serve the following
98148 terms: one member for one (1) year, two members for two (2) years,
99149 and two members for three (3) years. Thereafter, at the expiration
100150 of the term, or termination of the member ’s service for any reason,
101151 the Governor shall appoint each successor for a term of three (3)
102152 years, or for the remainder of an unexpired term. The successor for
103153 any of the three speech -language pathologists or audiologists will
104154 be selected from a list of five licensed speech -language
105155 pathologists or audiologists, furnished by the Oklahoma Speech -
106156 Language-Hearing Association In selecting appointees, the Governor
107157 may consider recommendations from a s tatewide organization
108158 representing speech-language pathologists or audiologists, a state
109159 chapter of a national organization representing speech -language
110160 pathologists or audiologists, or other groups or individuals in this
111161 state. The re-creation of the Board shall not affect the staggered
112162 terms of office for Board members established with the original
113163 Board.

141215 C. Before entering upon the duties of the member ’s office, each
142216 member of the Board shall take the constitutional oath of office and
143217 file it with the Secretary of State.
144218 D. Board members may be reappointed to serve one additional
145219 three-year term. Three (3) years after the termination of a
146220 previous appointment to the Board, a member may be reappointed for
147221 one additional three -year term.
148222 E. Board members shall be reimbursed for travel expenses
149223 incurred in the performance of their duties as provided in the State
150224 Travel Reimbursement Act.
151225 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
