3965 An Act relating to the practice of psychology;

4470 limitation on appointees; permitting the Governor to
4571 consider certain recommendations; amending 59 O.S.
4672 2021, Section 1357, which relates to vacancies;
4773 conforming language; updating statutory language; and
4874 providing an effective date.

5379 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5480 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1354, as
5581 amended by Section 1, Chapter 66, O.S.L. 2023 (59 O.S. Supp. 2024,
5682 Section 1354), is amended to read as follows:
5783 Section 1354. There is hereby re-created, to continue until
5884 July 1, 2025, pursuant to the provisions of the Oklahoma Sunset Law,
5985 the State Board of Examiners o f Psychologists. The Board shall
6086 administer the provisions of the Psychologist s Licensing Act. The
6187 Board shall consist of seven (7) members appointed by the Governor.
6288 Five members shall be psychologists from various areas in psychology
6389 and two members shall be lay persons. At the expiration of the term

141+of each Board member who is a psychologist , the Governor shall
92142 appoint a successor from a list of ten licensed psychologists which
93143 is provided by the Oklahoma State Psychological Association . In
94144 selecting appointees, the Governor may consider recommendations from
95145 a statewide organization representing psychologists, a state chapter
96146 of a national organization representing psychologists, or other
97147 groups or individuals in this state . Members shall serve for a term
98148 of four (4) years and until a successor is appointed and qualified.
99149 Before entering upon the duties of office, each member of the Board
100150 shall take the constitutional oath of office and file it with the
101151 Secretary of State.
102152 SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1357, is
103153 amended to read as follows:
104154 Section 1357. After giving the member a written statement of
105155 the charges and an opportunity to be heard thereon, the Governor may
106156 remove any member of the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
107157 for misconduct, incompetency, or neglect of duty. Any vacancy in
108158 the membership of the Board shall be filled by the Governor for the
109159 unexpired term. If there is a vacancy in the psychologist
110160 membership of the Board, the Governor shal l fill it from a list of
111161 ten (10) psychologists which is provided by the Oklaho ma State
112162 Psychological Association . In selecting appointees, the Governor
113163 may consider recommendations from a statewide organization
114164 representing psychologists, a state chapter of a national
