73	73	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
74	74	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
75	75	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1273.1 of Title 21, unless there
76	76	is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows :
77	77	A. It shall be unlawful for a person to store or leave a
78	78	firearm in a manner which allows a minor to have unsupervised access
79	79	to the firearm. A firearm that is not in use must be secured in a
80	80	locked container or by a device or mechanism, other than the firearm
81	81	safety, designed to render the firearm inaccessible or temporarily
82	82	inoperable.
83	83	B. A person who violates the provisions of subsection A of this
84	84	section shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor,
85	85	punishable by imprisonment in the county ja il for a term not

137	137	exceeding one (1) year, by a fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars
138	138	($500.00), or by both such imprisonment and fine.
139	139	C. A person who commits a violation of the provisions of
140	140	subsection A of this section which results in a minor accessing a
141	141	firearm and that results in bodily injury, great bodily injury, or
142	142	death to the minor or another person, shall , upon conviction, be
143	143	guilty of a felony punishable by imprison ment in the custody of the
144	144	Department of Corrections for a term not less than two (2) years nor
145	145	more than twenty (20) years, by a fine not to exceed Five Thousand
146	146	Dollars ($5,000.00), or by both such imprisonment and fine.
147	147	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
