7373 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7474 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
7575 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1273.1 of Title 21, unless there
7676 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows :
7777 A. It shall be unlawful for a person to store or leave a
7878 firearm in a manner which allows a minor to have unsupervised access
7979 to the firearm. A firearm that is not in use must be secured in a
8080 locked container or by a device or mechanism, other than the firearm
8181 safety, designed to render the firearm inaccessible or temporarily
8282 inoperable.
8383 B. A person who violates the provisions of subsection A of this
8484 section shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor,
8585 punishable by imprisonment in the county ja il for a term not

137137 exceeding one (1) year, by a fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars
138138 ($500.00), or by both such imprisonment and fine.
139139 C. A person who commits a violation of the provisions of
140140 subsection A of this section which results in a minor accessing a
141141 firearm and that results in bodily injury, great bodily injury, or
142142 death to the minor or another person, shall , upon conviction, be
143143 guilty of a felony punishable by imprison ment in the custody of the
144144 Department of Corrections for a term not less than two (2) years nor
145145 more than twenty (20) years, by a fine not to exceed Five Thousand
146146 Dollars ($5,000.00), or by both such imprisonment and fine.
147147 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
