7575 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7676 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 21 O.S. 2021, Section 589, is
7777 amended to read as follows:
7878 Section 589. A. It shall be unlawful to willfully, knowingly ,
7979 and without probable cause make a false report to any person of any
8080 crime or circumstances indicating the possibility of cri me having
8181 been committed, including the unlawful taking of personal property,
8282 which report causes or encourages the exercise of police action or
8383 investigation. Any person convicted of violating the provisions of
8484 this subsection shall be guilty of a misdem eanor punishable by
8585 imprisonment in the county jail for not more than ninety ( 90) days
8686 or by a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by
8787 both such fine and imprisonment if the false report accused a person

139139 of a misdemeanor. Any person co nvicted of violating the provisions
140140 of this subsection shall be guilty of a felony if the false report
141141 accused a person of a felony. The punishments for such misdemeanor
142142 or felony shall be the same as the provisions for such offense of
143143 the accused crime in the false report.
144144 B. It shall be unlawful to willfully, knowingly, and with out
145145 probable cause communicate false information concerning a missing
146146 child to a law enforcement agency that causes or encourages the
147147 activation of an AMBER alert warning system. Any person convicted
148148 of violating the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a
149149 felony punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for not more
150150 than one (1) year or by a fine of not less than One Thousand Dollars
151151 ($1,000.00), or by both such f ine and imprisonment.
152152 SECTION 2. This act shall become effect ive November 1, 2025.
