49	75		BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
50	76		SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
51	77		in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 650.12 of Title 21, unless there
52	78		is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
53	79		A. As used in this section, “county employee” means any person
54	80		employed by a county, including any duly appointed person, or an
55	81		employee of a firm contracting with a county.
56	82		B. Any person who, without justifiable or excusable cause,
57	83		commits any assault, battery, or assault and battery upon the person
58	84		of a county employee while such employee is in the performance of
59	85		his or her duties shall , upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor
60	86		punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for a period no t to
61		-	exceed one (1) year, a fine not to exceed One Thousand Dollars
62		-	($1,000.00), or by both such imprisonment and fine.

91	141		commits any aggravated battery or aggravated assault and b attery
92	142		upon the person of a county employee shall , upon conviction, be
93	143		guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the
94	144		Department of Corrections for a term not to exceed two (2 ) years, a
95	145		fine not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or by both
96	146		such imprisonment and fine.
97	147		D. Every county site shall post in a prominent place a notice
98	148		having the following or similar language: “FELONY CHARGES MAY BE
99	149		FILED AGAINST ANY PERSO N(S) COMMITTING AN AGGRAVATED ASSAULT OR
100	150		BATTERY UPON ANY COUNTY EMPLOYEE. ”
101	151		SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
