73	73	WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 11 -103.6a-1 of Title 70 of the
74	74	Oklahoma Statutes, all subject matter standards and revisions to the
75	75	standards adopted by the State Board of Education are subject to
76	76	legislative review; and
77	77	WHEREAS, three newly sworn-in members of the State Board of
78	78	Education were sent the proposed subjec t matter standards via email
79	79	at 4:01 p.m. on February 26, 2025; and
80	80	WHEREAS, the State Board of Education meeting to consider
81	81	adoption of the subject matter standards was scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
82	82	on February 27, 2025; and
83	83	WHEREAS, questions exist regarding the transparency of the
84	84	subject matter standard adoption process; and

136	136	WHEREAS, given the magnitude of the decision facing State Board
137	137	of Education members to adopt sub ject matter standards for all
138	138	public schools in this state; and
139	139	WHEREAS, given the signif icant cost, estimated to be Thirty -
140	140	three Million Dollars ($33,000,000.00), to implement the subject
141	141	matter standards through development of new curriculum and the
142	142	purchase of new textbooks; and
143	143	WHEREAS, Governor J. Kevin Stitt and the three newly sworn -in
144	144	members of the State Board of Education have requested that the
145	145	subject matter standards be returned to the State Board of Education
146	146	for proper review and consideratio n.
147	147	NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF
148	148	REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 1 ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
149	149	SECTION 1. The Legislature hereby disapproves in whole the
150	150	social studies and science subject matter standards approved by the
151	151	State Board of Education on February 27, 2025.
152	152	SECTION 2. The Secretary of State is hereby directed to
153	153	distribute copies of this resolution to the Governor, the State
154	154	Department of Education, and the editor of “The Oklahoma Register”.
