14	67		the industry’s economic impact; and recognizing the
15	68		importance of aggregates for local infrastructure .

21	73		WHEREAS, Oklahoma’s economy depends on quality infrastructure –
22	74		from highways, roads, streets, and bridges to home foundations,
23	75		office walls, glass for all uses, and fracking sa nd that powers
24	76		Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas industry; and

26	77		WHEREAS, all those cri tical economic outcomes begin with the
27	78		production and use of aggregates – the rock, sand, gravel, and
28	79		gypsum that lays the foundation for all infrastructure; and

30	80		WHEREAS, aggregates in Oklahoma is a nearly $1 billion industry,
31	81		supporting 8,450 jobs and $457 million in annual employee
32	82		compensation, paying 20% higher -than-average Oklahoma wages; and
33		-
34	83		WHEREAS, Oklahoma aggregates are the primary construction
35	84		material used by the D epartment of Transportation, Oklahoma Turnpike
36	85		Authority, and county, city, and tr ibal governments, as well as real
37	86		estate developers and homebuilders.
