Requires colleges and universities to provide students with written information on reporting bias related and hate crimes, requirements for reporting bias related and hate crimes, and protections available to those who report bias related and hate crimes.
Creates a service learning program for students serving as active volunteer firefighters or volunteer ambulance workers; mandates certain features of such program.
Enacts the student journalist education act to protect student speech at educational institutions unless such speech is libelous, an invasion of privacy, or incites students to commit an unlawful act, violate school policies, or to materially and substantially disrupt the orderly operation of the school.
Provides for a grace period until July 1, 2025, in which former employees of the department of corrections and community supervision that participated in a strike may return to full duty without discipline.
Prohibits the sale of foods containing synthetic color additives in schools except under certain circumstances off and away from the premises or on premises at least a half hour after the end of the school day.
Allows political subdivisions which contract to receive fire protection services from a special fire company or department to jointly establish a service award program with political subdivisions which contract to receive ambulance services from the same special fire company or department.
Establishes an oral fluid task force to study and make recommendations on best practices for the testing of oral fluids to determine impairment due to drug intoxication while operating a motor vehicle in the state; replaces the word "saliva" with the term "oral fluid" and relates to the testing of oral fluids.
Exempts persons holding the office of clerk-treasurer or deputy clerk in the village of Baxter Estates from the requirement that such person be a resident of the political subdivision or municipal corporation of the state for which such person shall be chosen or within which such person's official functions are required to be exercised.
Authorizes the village of Kings Point, town of North Hempstead, county of Nassau, to alienate and discontinue certain parklands for the purpose of providing additional parking for the community center being built by the United Mashadi Jewish Community of America, and to replace such alienated parkland with a new, dedicated parkland.
Extends the effectiveness of certain provisions relating to the authority of the village of Plandome Manor to enter into contracts to sell delinquent tax liens or to pledge such liens as collateral for a loan.
