Ed Case is a Democratic U.S. Representative serving Hawaii's 1st Congressional District. Born on September 27, 1952, in Hilo, Hawaii, he has had a long career in both public service and private practice. After completing his education at Hawai'i Preparatory High School, Case earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Williams College in 1975 and later received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, San Francisco, in 1981. He began his political career working as a staff member for U.S. Representative Spark Matsunaga from 1975 to 1977 and then for U.S. Senator Spark Matsunaga from 1977 to 1978.
Before his current tenure in Congress, Case served in the Hawaii State House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. After an unsuccessful bid for the Governor's seat in 2002, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002 to complete the term of the late Representative Patsy Mink.
