Born in Gainesville, Florida, on February 8, 1963, Bilirakis completed his education at the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986, followed by a Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University in 1989. Prior to his congressional career, he practiced law and served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006.
