Senator Jerry Moran has been a significant figure in Kansas politics and American governance, serving as a U.S. Senator since 2011 after a lengthy career that began in the House of Representatives. Born on May 29, 1954, in Great Bend, Kansas, he attended the University of Kansas where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1976 and a Juris Doctor in 1981. Additionally, he is an M.B.A. candidate at Fort Hays State University. Early in his career, Moran worked as a bank officer and an instructor, demonstrating a commitment to education and economic development in his community.

Starting in 1989, he served in the Kansas State Senate until 1997, where he held key leadership positions, including majority leader and vice president.
