Expands the persons responsible for reporting cases of suspected child abuse to include employees, volunteers, or agents of any corporate entity having an agreement with a municipality as a homeless shelter provider and the development of procedures related thereto.
Requires the disclosure of bedbug infestation history for the previous year to prospective lessees; does not apply to cities with a population of one million or more; includes co-op sales and co-op and condo rentals in addition to other types of rentals.
Relates to chemical testing for prospective foster parents; includes, but is not limited to drug and alcohol testing; authorizes office of children and family services to issue random chemical testing, including but not limited to, drug testing, to foster parents.
Provides for the review of the criminal history information of prospective residents of nursing homes by the department of health to determine whether such prospective resident has a prior sex offense conviction or a recent completion of the sentence for a criminal conviction; requires in any such case information on such conviction shall be disclosed to the nursing home.
Establishes the temporary state commission on intimate partner violence, within the office for the prevention of domestic violence, to study, report on and make recommendations on the prevalence, causes, effects, risks and costs of such violence.
Establishes the office of nutrition and fitness to protect the public from preventable diseases causally related to obesity by developing and implementing a plan to educate and encourage health and nutrition in the state.
Ensures language assistance services by state agencies; requires state agencies to maintain records of the primary language spoken by any individual seeking such assistance; requires state agencies to submit an annual report on language services.
Directs the commissioner of education for the state of New York to revamp the structure of school districts statewide creating one school district per county.
Requires notification to insureds that an out-of-network physician may be used in their procedure, test or surgery and such physician's services shall not be covered by their insurance policy; such services must be covered if the insured person does not receive notification prior to such services or procedure.
Establishes a career explorations class to integrate academic and vocational education, link secondary and post-secondary education and provide learning activities and mentoring at the work site; provides students with school-based learning and work-based learning.
