Authorizes a study on lithium-ion battery fires and prevention to review the severity of lithium-ion battery fires, including what specific components of the battery causes severe fires; examine the effectiveness of lithium fireproof blankets on such fires; examine the current measures of safety implemented by fire departments across New York in relation to lithium-ion battery fires; requires a report to the governor and the legislature; makes related provisions.
Authorizes the assessor of the town of Babylon to accept an application for exemption from real property taxes from Phoenix Houses of Long Island, Inc.
Extends the powers of the monitor of the Wyandanch union free school district to include overriding of any resolutions or motions; authorizes the monitor to direct the board, superintendent, and/or other school district officers to undergo any necessary training; grants the monitor the power to approve or disapprove the appointment of the superintendent by the board of education; requires an academic improvement plan to be developed by the board of education and the monitor.
Allows for unlicensed individuals to collect throat or nasopharyngeal swab specimens and to perform certain nursing tasks during a state disaster emergency.
Provides that any applicant who cultivates for sale or sells cannabis, cannabis products, medical cannabis, or any product marketed or labeled as such, without having an appropriate registration, license or permit therefor, shall be deemed ineligible to receive or renew a license to sell cannabis.
Designates the Nassau-Suffolk transportation coordinating committee as the metropolitan planning organization for Long Island; provides for the withdrawal of the Nassau-Suffolk coordinating committee from the New York Metropolitan transportation council.
Relates to granting certain individuals youthful offender status; adds a new category of individuals eligible for young adult offender status; provides for process and sentencing requirements related to such statuses.
Authorizes the commissioner of corrections and community supervision to discipline certain employees for acts of serious misconduct; defines serious misconduct; establishes procedures for such disciplinary action; prohibits employees who have been removed for serious misconduct from being placed on the eligible list after such removal.
Provides that any one-way, round trip or multi-trip tickets purchased for use on the Long Island Rail Road or the Metro-North Commuter Railroad Company by a senior citizen or a person with a disability shall be valid at any time during the day or night.
Requires every sheriff, county or city commissioner of correction and head of every state, county, or local police department to report instances and occurrences of hate crimes; requires the division to promulgate rules and regulations for such reporting.
