Biography

Representative Elizabeth “Liz” Campos is currently serving her second term in the Texas House of Representatives, representing House District 119, which includes San Antonio, Converse, Live Oak, Schertz, St. Hedwig, and Universal City. She made history as the first woman elected to this district and has a strong background in legal administration, having worked for major law firms in San Antonio for over three decades. In addition to her legislative role, she has served in various capacities within the Texas Legislature, including as a House Constituent Coordinator and Senate Chief of Staff. Representative Campos is also a third-generation plumber and resides in Southeast San Antonio with her three German Shepherds: Jojo, Mona, and Lobo.

During her tenure, Campos has focused on several significant legislative issues. Notably, she authored legislation aimed at improving healthcare quality in long-term care facilities. Her initiatives require state certification for institutions caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s and protect the personal funds of residents in long-term care homes. Furthermore, she has actively addressed housing issues in Bexar County through legislation that includes housing first initiatives, transitional housing programs, and the creation of an affordable housing trust fund.

Campos has received recognition for her contributions, including being named "Freshman of the Year" by the Texas House Legislative Study Group in her first term. Her commitment to public health is underscored by her role as Vice-Chair of the Public Health Committee during the 88th Legislative Session, as well as her membership on the Human Services Committee and the House Redistricting Committee.

Representative Campos has sponsored and co-sponsored various bills addressing pressing issues, reflecting her legislative priorities. Among these is House Bill 2898, which seeks to amend the definition of preventable deaths to include youth suicides.
