Haley M. Stevens is a member of the United States House of Representatives, serving Michigan's 11th Congressional District since January 3, 2013. Born in Springfield, Ohio, on June 17, 1982, she graduated from Duke University with a degree in Public Policy and later earned her Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School. Prior to entering politics, Stevens had a diverse professional background; she worked in economic policy at the United States Environmental Protection Agency and later served as a partner at a law firm focusing on administrative law.

Stevens is a member of several key committees in Congress, including the Committee on Education and Labor and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Her legislative efforts have focused on a variety of issues affecting her constituents, including education reform, labor rights, and technology policy.

Among the notable bills she has sponsored are the Taxpayer Data Protection Act (HB1101) which aims to enhance security measures and accountability in the management of federal financial systems, and the Capitol Remembrance Act (HB321) which calls for the establishment of a permanent exhibit in the U.S. Capitol to commemorate the January 6 attack. Additionally, she has been a vocal supporter of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (HB14), which seeks to protect voting rights and expand access to the electoral process.

Stevens' political stance is generally aligned with progressive values. Many of the bills she has supported focus on civil rights, labor rights, and women’s health. For instance, she has co-sponsored the Paycheck Fairness Act (HB17), which aims to combat wage discrimination, and the Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act, emphasizing her commitment to gender equity in health care. Her support for legislation addressing climate change and public health reforms indicates a strong alignment with contemporary Democratic priorities, particularly among younger voters and progressive groups.

In personal life, Stevens is married and has emphasized in her public engagements the importance of family values and community service. Her legislative priorities reflect a dedication to improving the quality of life for residents in her district, particularly through educational initiatives and support for working families.

Outside of Congress, Stevens' engagement with local communities—including hosting town hall meetings and participating in outreach efforts—highlights her commitment to constituent services and responsiveness to the needs of her district. Her career thus far illustrates a blend of legal expertise, policy innovation, and a focus on equity and accessibility in governance.
