Biography

Jim Banks is a Republican Senator representing Indiana, having previously served in the House of Representatives. Born on August 24, 1972, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Carmel High School in Indiana in 1990. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy (1995), a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago (2000), a Master of Arts from the University of London (2001), and a Juris Doctor from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law (2006). Banks has a diverse background, having served in both the United States Navy and Marine Corps. His military service has informed his ongoing interest in defense and veteran affairs.

Banks began his political career as a staff member for Senator Richard Lugar, which cultivated his relationships within Indiana’s political landscape.
