Warren Davidson is a Republican Representative from Ohio, born on March 1, 1970. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1989 before attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995. After serving in the United States Army, Davidson pursued an MBA at the University of Notre Dame. His experience also includes being a business owner and a trustee for Concord Township, Ohio. Davidson was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a special election on June 7, 2016, filling the vacancy left by John Andrew Boehner and has since been re-elected to each successive Congress.
In his legislative career, Davidson is active on several committees and is involved in sponsoring various bills that reflect his political perspective. Notably, he has served on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Ways and Means. His legislative initiatives focus on fiscal responsibility, healthcare reform, and consumer rights.
Among the prominent bills Davidson has sponsored is the Keep Your Coins Act of 2025, aimed at preventing federal agencies from limiting the use of convertible virtual currencies. This legislation promotes individual control over financial assets and seeks to bolster the growing cryptocurrency sector amidst concerns regarding government oversight.
Davidson is also the primary sponsor of the Lead by Example Act of 2023, which mandates that starting January 3, 2025, healthcare for members of Congress and their staff must be provided through the Department of Veterans Affairs, reinforcing a commitment to the quality of care veterans receive. Another significant bill he has backed is the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2025, which calls for an audit of the Federal Reserve, aiming to enhance transparency and accountability in monetary policy.
In terms of his political leanings, Davidson tends to support conservative fiscal policies, advocating for reduced government oversight in various sectors, as evident from his co-sponsoring of the FairTax Act of 2023, which proposes a national sales tax while eliminating income and other forms of taxation. However, he also aim to enhance consumer protection against foreign data exploitation, reflected in the American Genetic Privacy Act of 2025, which seeks to protect U.S. citizens' genetic information from international entities, particularly from the People's Republic of China.
Davidson’s legislative approach is consistent with a philosophy that endorses personal and economic freedoms rather than government intervention, appealing to his Republican base and national conservative priorities. He advocates for policies that limit federal government functions and enhance individual rights, which can be seen in his support for various healthcare, financial, and tax reforms.
Outside of his political career, Davidson is reported to be a family-oriented individual, although specific details about his family and personal ventures are less publicly detailed. His entrepreneurial background also reflects his strong support for business and economic liberty, advocating for a regulatory environment that fosters innovation and growth in various sectors, including technology and finance.
