WALSH Introduced By: Representatives Caldwell, Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Marszalkowski, Chippendale, Craven, Cortvriend, O'Brien, Costantino, and Fogarty Date Introduced: January 05, 2023 Referred To: House read and passed WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Robert 1 A. Walsh, the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Walsh for sixty years; and 2 WHEREAS, Blessed with a large and loving family, Mr. Walsh was the father of Robert 3 Walsh Jr., Jack Walsh and his wife, Annabelle, Kathy Lynch and her husband, Stephen, Bill 4 Walsh and his wife, Lisa, Christine Phillips and her husband, Christopher, and the late Michael 5 Walsh, and daughter-in-law, the late Gail Colburn. He was also the very proud grandfather of 6 Erik, Katie, John Jr., Angel, Lily, Christie, Maggie, Michael, Meaghan, James, Brittany and 7 Brandon, and a great-grandchild, Oriana; and 8 WHEREAS, Born in the City of Providence, Mr. Walsh was a son of the late James and 9 Helen Walsh, and the brother of the late David Walsh; and 10 WHEREAS, A loyal and hard-working man, Mr. Walsh was employed at New England 11 Telephone for forty-five years, where he had worked his way from pumping gasoline to the 12 position of Director of Labor Relations in Boston; and 13 WHEREAS, In his spare time, Mr. Walsh was an avid golfer, a long-time member and 14 the past President at Highland Country Club in Attleboro, Massachusetts, where he formed 15 “many long-standing friendships and perfected his lightning quick backswing”; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Walsh was also devoted to numerous altruistic endeavors. He spent 17 many hours volunteering at Amos House, helping the Town of Cumberland on various projects, 18 and at St. John Vianney Parish in Cumberland; and 19 WHEREAS, Bob Walsh enjoyed bringing laughter to his friends and was “quick with a 20 LC000314 - Page 2 of 2 smile, wink or sign of the cross.” He always let those he loved know that he cared and he will be 1 sadly missed; now, therefore be it 2 RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 3 extends deepest condolences on the passing of Robert A. Walsh; and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 5 transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Robert Walsh Jr. and Family, Jack Walsh and 6 Family, Kathy Lynch and Family, Bill Walsh and Family, and Christine Phillips and Family. 7 ======== LC000314 ========
