EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE P ASSING OF RHONDA FORTIN

WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Rhonda 1 
Fortin. She was born in Fall River, the daughter of William and Vivien Fortin; and 2 
WHEREAS, Ms. Fortin graduated from Warren High School, and earned an Associate’s 3 
degree in accounting from the former Barrington College. She was a hard-working woman who 4 
tirelessly strove to provide for her family and loved ones. She was employed by the Town of 5 
Warren for more than 15 years, and also served as a secretary for numerous town boards and 6 
commissions. She was an enterprising woman and talented seamstress and baker, and for a time, 7 
owned her own cake business, Elegance by Rhonda; and 8 
WHEREAS, Ms. Fortin devoted much of her life supporting civic and charitable 9 
endeavors. For many years she volunteered in support of numerous Bristol-Warren Regional 10 
School District functions, including serving on the PTA, as a teacher’s aide and participating in a 11 
plethora of school programs and clubs. She also organized the Cancer Pillow Project at 12 
Kickemuit Middle School, where pillows were sewn for students to decorate for chemotherapy 13 
patients; and 14 
WHEREAS, Ms. Fortin’s community service activities also included serving meals to 15 
veterans each Thanksgiving and supporting countless local fundraisers and charities. Ms. Fortin 16 
was a true patriot who proudly displayed her support of our nation and military members, 17 
especially her sons Jarret and Jevin; and 18 
WHEREAS, A devoted mother who always put family first in her life, Ms. Fortin was 19 
also a dedicated Christian who was actively involved in her parish, where she sang in the St. 20

Mary of the Bay and former St. Jean’s choir before joining the St. Luke’s choir; and 1 
WHEREAS, Ms. Fortin leaves behind her children, Joseph Fortin and his wife, Nicole, 2 
Riana France and her husband, Jameson, Jarrett Fortin and his wife, Raizza, and Jevin Fortin and 3 
his fiancée, Alexis Franco. She also leaves behind her granddaughter, Ravyn Lily Fortin, sister, 4 
Tiffany Quiterio and her husband, Dylan, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends; 5 
now, therefore be it 6 
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 7 
expresses its deepest condolences to the Fortin Family on the passing of Rhonda Fortin, and be it 8 
further 9 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 10 
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Joseph Fortin, Riana France, Jarrett Fortin and 11 
Jevin Fortin. 12
