CONGRATULATING JENNI E JOHNSON ON BEING NAM ED VICE PRESIDENT OF 
WORKFORCE PARTNERSHI PS AT THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF RHODE ISLAND 
AND THANKING HER FOR SIXTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATION AND DILIGENCE AS 
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CITY YEAR PROVIDENCE

WHEREAS, Since 2006, Jennie Johnson has consistently devoted her considerable 1 
talents, time and energies to advancing the mission of City Year. To the very good fortune of the 2 
Community College of Rhode Island, on March 3, 2023, she will be leaving City Year to take on 3 
the challenges of her new position as Vice President of Workforce Partnerships at the College; 4 
and  5 
WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson graduated from Warwick Vets High School and attended 6 
CCRI, later earning her Bachelor’s degree in marketing and psychology from Rhode Island 7 
College. In 2018, prior to joining City Year, she worked as a Commissioner at the Rhode Island 8 
Board of Elections and as a community director for the March of Dimes Rhode Island chapter; 9 
and  10 
WHEREAS, Finding her perfect niche, Ms. Johnson joined City Year as Executive 11 
Director and set out to take on the challenges of helping the community. Achieving multiple 12 
successes and advancements during her tenure, she is credited with enhancing the organization’s 13 
reach through fundraising, shareholder engagement and strategic development, and with 14 
expanding the footprint of AmeriCorps which is now able to support thousands of students, to 15 
name but a few of her many accomplishments; and 16 
WHEREAS, Widely-respected in the community and by her peers for her tremendous 17 
work ethic, Ms. Johnson was honored with the “Women of Excellence” award from the Women’s 18

Center of Rhode Island, was named as one of GoLocalProv’s “12 people who made a difference 1 
in 2012”, and received the Providence Business News “People Under 40 Award”; and 2 
WHEREAS, In her new position as Vice President of Workforce Development at her 3 
alma mater, Ms. Johnson will be responsible for aligning “workforce training programs with 4 
academic, industry and public sector needs, developing partnerships with businesses and 5 
overseeing marketing strategies and outreach for increased enrollment”; and  6 
WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson’s successes haven’t simply been the result of good fortune, but 7 
have moreover been due to her immense talents, intellectual aptitude, and focus. She is a 8 
paradigm of the very best leadership qualities and she is eminently worthy of our praise and 9 
acknowledgement; now, therefore be it 10 
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 11 
thanks Jennie Johnson for her tireless work as Executive Director of City Year Providence and 12 
moreover congratulates her on being named Vice President of Workforce Partnerships at the 13 
Community College of Rhode Island. We wish her continued success, fulfillment, and good 14 
health; and be it further  15 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 16 
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Jennie Johnson. 17
