MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $200,000 TO THE BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION OF
RHODE ISLAND (BIARI)

WHEREAS, The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island (BIARI) is a nonprofit 1
organization founded in 1983; and 2
WHEREAS, Each year, 1.6 million Americans sustain a traumatic brain injury; and 3
WHEREAS, The BIARI mission is to help prevent brain injury and “offers programs and 4
services to increase public awareness of brain injury, provide information, resource materials and 5
education, enhance the effectiveness of agencies and service providers, and support survivors and 6
caregivers”; now, therefore be it 7
RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not 8
otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2023-2024, the sum of two hundred thousand dollars 9
($200,000) to the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island to assist efforts to prevent brain injury 10
and increase public awareness of brain injury; and the state controller is hereby authorized and 11
directed to draw his orders upon the general treasurer for the payment of said sum, upon receipt 12
of properly authenticated vouchers. 13
