2121 It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
2222 SECTION 1. Chapter 11-8 of the General Laws entitled "Burglary and Breaking and 1
2323 Entering" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
2424 11-8-4.1. Smash and grab prohibited. 3
2525 (a) The concerted action by at least two (2) or more people who, acting together, break and 4
2626 enter or ransack or smash doors or windows of any retail establishment in order to steal and make 5
2727 off with retail items shall be imprisoned for ten (10) years, and shall not be afforded the benefit of 6
2828 suspension or deferment of sentence nor of probation. 7
2929 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 8
