MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $50,000 TO THE RHODE ISLAND DEPARTMENT OF
EDUCATION FOR FIRE ACADEMY TRAINING PROG RAMS AT CENTRAL HIGH
SCHOOL IN PROVIDENCE

WHEREAS, The Rhode Island State Fire Academy provides basic and advanced training 1
programs and is accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications; 2
and 3
WHEREAS, A Firefighter I student course, provided by a state certified instructor with 4
hands-on training, including search and rescue and ground level training would encourage 5
students to later become firefighters by gaining the eligibility and motivation to take additional 6
required courses and ultimately be eligible to test for entry at the Providence Training Academy; 7
now, therefore be it 8
RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not 9
otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2023-2024, the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) 10
to the Rhode Island Department of Education for a Fire Academy Training program at Central 11
High School; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders upon 12
the general treasurer for the payment of said sum, or so much thereof as may be from time to time 13
required, upon receipt of properly authenticated vouchers. 14
