| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 34-37.1 of the General Laws entitled "Homeless Bill of Rights" is 1 |

| 25 | 25 | | 34-37.1-7. Mandatory municipal emergency shelters. 3 |

| 26 | 26 | | (a) All cities and towns, which are entitled to receive additional school aid, based upon the 4 |

| 27 | 27 | | equalized weighted assessment valuation, established in ยง 16-7-21, shall be required to provide and 5 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | maintain at least one emergency shelter, with a minimum of ten (10) beds, open year round. The 6 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | cost of the shelter shall be borne by the host municipality. 7 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (b) For purposes of this section, an "emergency shelter" means a facility, whose primary 8 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | purpose is to provide temporary shelter for the homeless, which does not require occupants to sign 9 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | leases or has occupancy requirements. 10 |
