CELEBRATING THE 2ND ANNUAL “RI CRAFT BEER WEEK’ IN THE STATE OF 
RHODE ISLAND ON MARC H 3RD THROUGH MARCH 12TH OF 2023

WHEREAS, Rhode Island has become home to myriad beer manufacturers who quench 1 
our thirst and tantalize our taste buds with an amazing and ever evolving variety of unique craft 2 
beers; and  3 
WHEREAS, Ten years ago, the state had five breweries while currently there are thirty-4 
six in the RI Brewers Guild, with an additional two set to open shortly; and  5 
WHEREAS, Small businesses are the backbone of Rhode Island’s economy, with craft 6 
breweries becoming an economic force at the local and state level, producing a $233 million 7 
economic impact in 2021, and employing more than 1,600 people; and  8 
WHEREAS, The craft brewing industry's economic impact also includes the sale of non-9 
beer products including food and merchandise sold by brewpub restaurants and brewery 10 
taprooms, and at beer tours of local craft breweries; and 11 
WHEREAS, Breweries are giving new and exciting life to sleepy commercial districts 12 
and abandoned mills, helping local communities to invigorate and re-invent neighborhoods; and 13 
WHEREAS, RI Craft Beer Week will feature numerous events and promotions for the 14 
State’s breweries with “events featuring Rhody beers at bars, restaurants, liquor stores and more” 15 
including a hot dog eating contest, the opportunity for a lucky individual to name a new beer, 16 
musical bingo, assorted prizes, and the popular “Rhode Map Challenge” contest, to name but a 17 
few of the exciting happenings around the State; and  18 
WHEREAS, With innovative offerings, Rhode Island’s breweries are meeting 19

consumer’s increasing demand, and bringing growth and economic value to our State; now, 1 
therefore be it 2 
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 3 
celebrates and offers a hardy “Cheers!” for the 2nd annual “RI Craft Beer Week” in the State. We 4 
moreover hope the industry continues to grow and flourish; and   5 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 6 
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Gary Richardson, Executive Director of the RI 7 
Brewers Guild. 8
