| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 1. Section 25-3-2 of the General Laws in Chapter 25-3 entitled "Work on 1 |

| 26 | 26 | | (a) Any person, association, or corporation receiving a permit from the division of racing 4 |

| 27 | 27 | | and athletics of the department of business regulation to operate any horse racing, dog racing, or 5 |

| 28 | 28 | | jai alai event under the parimutuel system and any person, association, or corporation doing 6 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | business under a contractual agreement to provide any services to any horse racing, dog racing, or 7 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | jai alai event under the parimutuel system shall compensate the necessary persons to conduct the 8 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | event on Sundays and/or holidays for at least one and one-half (1½) times the normal rate of pay 9 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | for the work performed, and it shall not be grounds for discharge or other penalty upon an employee 10 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | for refusing to work at the horse racing, dog racing, or jai alai event upon any of the Sundays and 11 |

| 34 | 34 | | holidays enumerated in this chapter, and nothing contained in this chapter shall prohibit any person 12 |

| 35 | 35 | | from engaging in or being employed in connection with the holding or operation of the licensed 13 |
