LOW, FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE IN THE RHODE ISLAND GENERAL ASSEMBLY Introduced By: Representatives Azzinaro, Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Kennedy, Shallcross Smith, Chippendale, Edwards, Ajello, Cortvriend, and McGaw Date Introduced: March 21, 2023 Referred To: House read and passed WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of the 1 Honorable Theodore F. Low, the beloved husband of Kay Hohenthaner Low for sixty-two years, 2 the cherished father of Sara Low and Emily Boenning and her husband, Dickson, and a respected 3 member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives from January of 1965 through 1974; and 4 WHEREAS, Mr. Low was the son of the late Isadore and Cecile Low, and the brother of 5 Brenda Mann and the late Susan Sauer. He was a lifelong resident of City of Providence, and a 6 graduate of Moses Brown School, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Brown University, where 7 he had been Class Vice President, and the Ohio State University Graduate School of Business. 8 He was employed as President of Sims Corporation, and had worked on alternative energy with 9 Widmer+Ernst and Blount Energy before retiring to start his own company, TFL and Associates; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, In the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters, during World War II and in three major 12 battles in the Korean War, Mr. Low served our country with honor in the United States Army, 13 earning a Bronze Star and retiring at the rank of Captain. He later served with the R.I. Army 14 National Guard, 43rd Infantry Division, and spear-headed the development and construction of 15 the Korean War Monument in Providence. From 2005 to 2017, he had served as the Rhode Island 16 Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army; and 17 WHEREAS, In addition to his family and career, Mr. Low had been a Trustee of Lincoln 18 School and Moses Brown School, where he had also served as Vice-Chair of the Board, was 19 LC002631 - Page 2 of 2 Director of the World Affairs Council of Rhode Island, Planned Parenthood, and the Nurses 1 Association, and was a longtime member of the University Club of Rhode Island, the Swiss 2 Alpine Club (Engelberg section), and Willow Dell Beach Club. While in school and throughout 3 his life, he had also enjoyed athletics, particularly swimming, football, and sailing; and 4 WHEREAS, The Honorable Theodore Low was an officer and a gentleman who lived a 5 long and successful life, was dedicated to the betterment of our State and his fellow man, and he 6 will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 8 posthumously honors Theodore F. Low for his service to our State and our Country, and extends 9 deepest condolences on his passing; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 11 transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Kay Hohenthaner Low and Family. 12 ======== LC002631 ========
