EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE 
HENRY C. ROSE

WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this House has learned of the passing of the 1 
Honorable Henry C. Rose, the beloved husband of the late Diane Rose, and a well-respected 2 
former member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives; and  3 
WHEREAS, Born in the City of Pawtucket, Mr. Rose was a son of the late Henry and 4 
Mary Rose, and the brother of Florence Agresti, Francis Rose, and the late Thomas Rose. He 5 
attended LaSalle Academy, earned his Bachelor’s degree at Providence College, and from 1962 6 
to 1966, served our country in the United States Coast Guard; and  7 
WHEREAS, A hard-working family man, Mr. Rose was the devoted father of Sherry 8 
Rose-Harritos and her husband, Vasilios, and Henry Rose and his wife, Jacqueline, and the very 9 
proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Nicholas, Henry and Victoria. He had been the operator 10 
of the Rose Furniture Company in East Providence for many years until his retirement; and 11 
WHEREAS, Mr. Rose was a longtime resident of the City of East Providence and had 12 
served as a member of the East Providence Planning Board from 1982 to 1992, and in November 13 
of 1992, was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives where he served for sixteen 14 
years. During his tenure in the House, he earned the title of Deputy Speaker and was also a 15 
member of the House Finance Committee, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and the 16 
Joint Small Business Committee; and 17 
WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Rose was Treasurer of the East Providence Democratic City 18 
Committee, and was instrumental in securing the jaws of life for the City of East Providence. He 19

was also a member of numerous professional and civic organizations including, the Retail 1 
Furniture Dealers, the America Planning Association, the National Association of Small 2 
Businessmen, the Prince Henry Club and the East Providence Council 1528, Knights of 3 
Columbus, and had been honored with the Yvonne Cabral Community Service Award in 2002; 4 
and  5 
WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for the family of 6 
Henry Rose. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enriched the lives of all who 7 
knew him, and he will be dearly missed in the community; now, therefore be it 8 
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 9 
extends deepest condolences on the passing of the Honorable Henry C. Rose; and be it further 10 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 11 
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Sherry Rose-Harritos and Family, and Henry 12 
Rose and Family. 13
