CELEBRATING "ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS' DAY" ON APRIL 26, 2023, AND 
THANKING ALL THE DEDICATED STAFF WHO WOR K TIRELESSLY IN SUPPORT OF 
THE RHODE ISLAND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

WHEREAS, In 1952, United States Secretary of Commerce Charles W. Sawyer 1 
proclaimed the week of June 1-7 to be "National Secretaries Week" with Wednesday, June 4th 2 
being designated as "National Secretaries Day." In 1955, "National Secretaries Week" was moved 3 
to the last full week of April with the Wednesday of that week now being designated as 4 
"Administrative Professionals' Day." The name was changed to "Professional Secretaries Week" 5 
in 1981, and became "Administrative Professionals' Week" in 2000; and 6 
WHEREAS, Administrative Professionals' Day celebrates the more than 2.78 million 7 
hard-working Administrative Professionals currently employed in the United States workforce 8 
who daily make invaluable contributions in support of their workplaces; and  9 
WHEREAS, Administrative Professionals often toil late into the night and arrive at their 10 
jobs early in the morning in order to ensure that their work has been done accurately and in a 11 
timely manner. Without these dedicated professionals, most workplaces could not function 12 
properly; and  13 
WHEREAS, Administrative Professionals are employed by, and essential to, myriad 14 
work places, both small and big businesses, at charitable entities, and in all government 15 
institutions including schools, hospitals and other vital components of society, and they are often 16 
the first contact and first impression that members of the public will have with a particular 17 
institution; and 18 
WHEREAS, At the Rhode Island State House, dedicated Administrative Professionals 19

work incredible hours with committed passion to ensure that each individual Representative's 1 
needs are met, and to guarantee that the people's business is done in a productive, efficient, and 2 
enlightened manner, and thanks to these exemplary professionals, the members of the House can 3 
better represent their constituents and do the important work they were elected to do; now, 4 
therefore be 5 
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 6 
proudly celebrates "Administrative Professionals Day" on April 26, 2023, and thanks all the 7 
dedicated staff who work tirelessly in support of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, 8 
including Jennifer Amerantes, Shera Burke, Lisa Cataldi, Trudy Cipriano, James DeCastro, 9 
Roberta DiMezza, Diane DePina, Lynn DiPetrillo, Kristen Haroian, Tiffany Johnson, Colleen 10 
Magill, Louis Mansolillo, Sarah Martino, Tina Massimino, Anabella Mayorga, Erin McKenna, 11 
Kathleen Morgan, and Kimberly Wineman; and be it further  12 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 13 
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Dr. Barrett Shaw, CAP, Chair of the Board of 14 
Directors of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. 15
