MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $300,000 TO ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY FOR
THE ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL BUSINESS START-UP CLINIC

WHEREAS, The State has demonstrated a commitment to encourage establishment and 1
growth of start-up businesses, particularly start-ups that are minority business enterprises as 2
defined in chapter 14.1 of title 37, by establishing a Minority Business Accelerator and providing 3
funding for it in the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget; and 4
WHEREAS, The State provided funding of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) 5
from the Minority Business Accelerator to Roger Williams University School of Law for 6
development of and first-year operations for the Business Start-Up Clinic within the Roger 7
Williams University School of Law in the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget; and 8
WHEREAS, It is necessary and essential to continue funding the Business Start-Up 9
Clinic at Roger Williams University School of Law for an additional year for the purpose of 10
sustainably building and maintaining operations; now, therefore be it 11
RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not 12
otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2023-2024, the sum of three hundred thousand dollars 13
($300,000) to Roger Williams University School of Law for the Roger Williams University 14
Business Start-Up Clinic; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his 15
orders upon the general treasurer for the payment of said sum, or so much thereof as may be from 16
time to time required, upon receipt of properly authenticated vouchers. 17
