CONGRATULATING THE 2023 PROVIDENCE PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS GRADUATING
CLASS

WHEREAS, Every year in late spring, young adults across America are attending Proms 1
and preparing for their next journey in life as they graduate from high school. Many will attend an 2
institution of higher learning, some will begin their working life as they enter employment, and 3
some will serve our nation and protect our liberties and freedoms as they join a branch of the 4
United States Armed Forces; and 5
WHEREAS, This year, the most diverse group of graduates in Providence history have 6
graduated from Providence's public high schools, including Hope High School, Central High 7
School, Classical High School, Providence Career and Technical Academy, Juanita Sanchez 8
Educational Complex, 360 High School, Mt. Pleasant High School, Dr. Alvarez High School and 9
the E-Cubed Academy; and 10
WHEREAS, The "Class of 2023" overcame great struggles to graduate. All had to deal 11
with COVID-19 and its impact on learning, and some graduates had to learn a second language 12
and overcome poverty issues, family issues, and other struggles to attain their diploma and begin 13
the next chapter of their lives; now, therefore be it 14
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 15
heartily and joyfully congratulates every member of the Providence Public High Schools 16
graduating "Class of 2023". We furthermore wish them much happiness and continued success in 17
all their future endeavors; and be it further 18
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 19

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Dr. Javier Montanez, Superintendent, 1
Providence Public Schools. 2
