Murray Date Introduced: January 31, 2023 Referred To: Placed on the Senate Consent Calendar WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Rita I. Blais, 1 the beloved wife of the late Irenee Blais for sixty years and the devoted mother of Diane 2 Catalano, Janet Pincince and her husband, Phil, George Blais, Donald Blais, and Paul Blais and 3 his partner, James Morgan; and 4 WHEREAS, Born in Lincoln, Mrs. Blais had made her home in Manville since 1950. She 5 was a daughter of the late Roch and Beatrice Giguere, the sister of Alice L’Heureux, and the late 6 Albert Giguere, Roger Giguere, Roland Giguere, and the mother-in-law of Bernie Catalano; and 7 WHEREAS, Mrs. Blais created a warm and loving home for her family and particularly 8 adored her eight grandchildren, six great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews; and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Blais was a communicant of St. James Church, and according to her 10 family, was a perfect example of Bessie Anderson Stanley’s quote “she has achieved success who 11 has lived well, laughed often, and loved much”; and 12 WHEREAS, With a fun-loving personality, Rita Blais won the hearts of all who had the 13 good fortune to be a part of her beautiful and happy life, and she will be dearly missed; now, 14 therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends deepest 16 condolences on the passing of Rita I. Blais; and be it further 17 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 18 transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Diane Catalano, Janet Pincince and Family, 19 LC000784 - Page 2 of 2 George Blais, Donald Blais, and Paul Blais. 1 ======== LC000784 ========
