RELATING TO PUBLIC PROPERTY AND WORKS -- ACQUISITION OF LAND

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 37-6 of the General Laws entitled "Acquisition of Land" is hereby 1
amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
37-6-6.1. Notice to municipalities, land abutters and general assembly. 3
Before acquiring and before disposing of any land or other real property or any interest, 4
estate, or right therein, by conveyance, grant, lease, or license, except by license terminable by will, 5
the state properties committee shall give written notice of its contemplated or proposed action to 6
the municipality where the land or other real property is located, to the abutters within a two 7
hundred foot (200') radius of the land or other real property and to the president of the senate and 8
the speaker of the house of representatives. 9
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 10

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

This act would require the state properties committee to give written notice regarding any 1
land or other real property it seeks to acquire or to dispose of to the municipality where the property 2
is located, abutters within a two hundred foot (200') radius and the president of the senate and 3
speaker of the house of representatives. 4
This act would take effect upon passage. 5
