2222 It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
2323 SECTION 1. Section 28-9.7-3 of the General Laws in Chapter 28-9.7 entitled "Correctional 1
2424 Officers Arbitration" is hereby amended to read as follows: 2
2525 28-9.7-3. Definitions. 3
2626 As used in this chapter, the following terms shall, unless the context requires a different 4
2727 interpretation have the following meanings: 5
2828 (1) “Correctional officers” shall mean the full-time correctional officers of the state of 6
2929 Rhode Island and shall include all those job classifications, in any bargaining unit certified by the 7
3030 Rhode Island state labor relations board, in which correctional officers constitute a majority of said 8
3131 bargaining unit membership. 9
3232 (2) “State authorities” shall mean the proper officials of the state whose duty or duties it is 10
3333 to establish the wages, salaries, rates of pay, hours, working conditions, and other terms and 11
3434 conditions of employment of correctional officers. 12
3535 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 13
