| 22 | 22 | | It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: |

| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 1. Section 5-65-7 of the General Laws in Chapter 5-65 entitled "Contractors’ 1 |

| 24 | 24 | | Registration and Licensing Board" is hereby amended to read as follows: 2 |

| 25 | 25 | | 5-65-7. Insurance required of contractors. 3 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (a) Throughout the period of registration, the contractor shall have in effect errors and 4 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | omissions insurance, public liability and property damage insurance covering the work of that 5 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | contractor that shall be subject to this chapter in not less than the following amount: five hundred 6 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | thousand dollars ($500,000) combined single limit, bodily injury and property damage. 7 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (b) In addition, all contractors shall have in effect workers’ compensation insurance as 8 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | required under chapter 29 of title 28. Failure to maintain required insurance shall not preclude 9 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | claims from being filed against a contractor. 10 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (c) The contractor shall provide satisfactory evidence to the board at the time of registration 11 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | and renewal that the insurance required by subsections (a) and (b) of this section has been procured 12 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | and is in effect. Failure to maintain insurance shall invalidate registration and may result in a fine 13 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | to the registrant and/or suspension or revocation of the registration. 14 |
|---|
