2323 It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
2424 SECTION 1. Chapter 27-18 of the General Laws entitled "Accident and Sickness Insurance 1
2525 Policies" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
2626 27-18-95. Physical therapists. 3
2727 (a) An individual or group health insurance plan or policy delivered, issued for delivery, or 4
2828 renewed in this state on or after January 1, 2026, shall not impose a copayment, coinsurance, or 5
2929 office visit deductible amount charged to the insured for services rendered by a physical therapist 6
3030 licensed under § 5-40-7 that is greater than the copayment, coinsurance or office visit deductible 7
3131 amount charged to the insured for the services of a primary care physician or osteopath licensed 8
3232 under chapter 37 of title 5. 9
3333 (b) An insurer shall state clearly the availability of physical therapy coverage under its plan 10
3434 and all related limitations, conditions, and exclusions. 11
3535 SECTION 2. Chapter 27-19 of the General Laws entitled "Nonprofit Hospital Service 12
3636 Corporations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 13
3737 27-19-87. Physical therapists. 14
3838 (a) An individual or group health insurance plan or policy delivered, issued for delivery, or 15
3939 renewed in this state on or after January 1, 2026, shall not impose a copayment, coinsurance, or 16
4040 office visit deductible amount charged to the insured for services rendered by a physical therapist 17
4141 licensed under § 5-40-7 that is greater than the copayment, coinsurance or office visit deductible 18

5555 licensed under § 5-40-7 that is greater than the copayment, coinsurance or office visit deductible 11
5656 amount charged to the insured for the services of a primary care physician or osteopath licensed 12

5858 (b) An insurer shall state clearly the availability of physical therapy coverage under its plan 14

6060 SECTION 4. Chapter 27-41 of the General Laws entitled "Health Maintenance 16
6161 Organizations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 17
6262 27-41-100. Physical therapists. 18
6363 (a) An individual or group health insurance plan or policy delivered, issued for delivery, or 19
6464 renewed in this state on or after January 1, 2026, shall not impose a copayment, coinsurance, or 20
6565 office visit deductible amount charged to the insured for services rendered by a physical therapist 21
6666 licensed under § 5-40-7 that is greater than the copayment, coinsurance or office visit deductible 22
6767 amount charged to the insured for the services of a primary care physician or osteopath licensed 23
6868 under chapter 37 of title 5. 24
6969 (b) An insurer shall state clearly the availability of physical therapy coverage under its plan 25
7070 and all related limitations, conditions, and exclusions. 26
7171 SECTION 5. This act shall take effect upon passage. 27
