EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE 
RAYMOND H. BERETTA

WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of the 1 
Honorable Raymond H. Beretta, the beloved husband of Joan for sixty-four years, and the proud 2 
father of Raymond Jr., William, Amy, and Michael; and  3 
WHEREAS, Born and raised in the City of Pawtucket, Mr. Beretta was a graduate of 4 
Pawtucket West High School, and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Providence College and his 5 
Master’s in Education from Rhode Island College; and  6 
WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Beretta was a school teacher with the Pawtucket 7 
School Department until joining the family business, where he managed the Durastone/Flexicore 8 
plant in Smithfield for twenty-one years. Ultimately, he returned to teaching, serving as the 9 
Principal of Potter Burns Elementary until his retirement in 2000; and 10 
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community, in 1973, Mr. Beretta successfully ran for a seat 11 
on the Pawtucket City Council. He had also been a member of the Knights of Columbus and the 12 
Sons of Italy.  He enjoyed spending leisure time golfing and boating, but the first and primary 13 
love in his life was always his family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren and 14 
great grandchildren; and   15 
WHEREAS, Raymond Beretta was a devoted family man, a great boss, a loyal friend, 16 
and a consummate professional who had an innate ability to relate to people, staff, parents, and 17 
especially students. He always approached life with a welcoming smile and a genuinely cheerful 18 
nature, and he is deeply missed; now, therefore be it 19

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 1 
extends deepest sympathy and condolences on the passing of the Honorable Raymond H. Beretta; 2 
and be it further 3 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 4 
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Joan Beretta and Family. 5
