COMMEMORATING "NATIONAL SCHOOL COU NSELING WEEK" ON FEBRUARY 3-7,
2025, IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

WHEREAS, School counselors are employed in public and private schools to help 1
students reach their full potential; and 2
WHEREAS, School counselors are actively committed to helping students explore their 3
abilities, strengths, interests, and talents as these traits relate to career awareness and 4
development; and 5
WHEREAS, School counselors help parents focus on ways to further the educational, 6
personal and social growth of their children; and 7
WHEREAS, School counselors work with teachers and other educators to help students 8
explore their potential and set realistic goals for themselves; and 9
WHEREAS, School counselors seek to identify and utilize community resources that can 10
enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs and help students become 11
productive members of society; and 12
WHEREAS, Comprehensive developmental school counseling programs are considered 13
an integral part of the educational process that enables all students to achieve success in school; 14
now, therefore be it 15
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 16
commemorates February 3-7, 2025, as "National School Counseling Week"; and be it further 17
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 18
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Anne-Marie Flaherty, President, Rhode Island 19
